The flavor of kiwano melon is mild and slightly sweet. It tastes similar to its close relative, the cucumber. When it’s very ripe, you may be able to detect a hint of banana flavor, too.

Kabocha’s taste is a cross between a pumpkin and sweet potato. Its flesh has a sweet, earthy flavor with hints of chestnut, and is chock full of beta-carotene, fiber, and vitamins A and C

Jackfruit has a sweet flavor. The taste is similar to other tropical fruits like mango or pineapple and makes a great addition to smoothies.

Fresh figs have a sweet, honeyed taste and a soft, squishy texture studded with discernible seeds that give it crunch.

The long bean is also known as the long-podded cowpea, asparagus bean, snake bean, or Chinese long bean. They have a very pronounced flavor and have a distinctly beany taste, and are not sweet like the green bean. Long beans work best briefly steamed, stir-fried, or braised, but also hold up well when added to stews.

Varying widely in size, shape, color and taste, heirloom tomatoes are quite different in appearance from common tomatoes. Most are fragile, with few seeds, meaty flesh and a thin skin. This thin skin, however, is what gives the tomato a higher sugar content and excellent flavor.
